At the end of our GMIS Summer Programs, we praise every GMIS teacher for the commitment and dedication that is evident in the planning behind each summer session. With excellent lesson-planning and organizing of crafts, art projects, outside activities and creative snacks, GMIS Teachers offer a wonderful well-rounded and most importantly, fun Montessori Summer Program.
Crafts – One of our recent summer session themes was Dinosaurs, and during that two week session, the children had great fun learning about these amazing creatures that once roamed the planet. Every child got to personally make a really cool Dinosaur Fossil Necklace to take home.
Science – There were also science based activities such as fun with baking soda and vinegar during that week. The children mixed these together with a bit of food coloring, put a small amount on top of sand, and pressed a plastic dinosaurs foot into it to make Fizzy Dino tracks!
Cooking – Our Dinosaur-themed cooking project was a Dino Waffle using half of a waffle, string cheese legs, a banana neck, watermelon back, blueberry eyes and cucumber head. Teachers covered all nutritional needs in one dinosaur. Way to go teachers!
Each child brings home a bag of wonderful summer memories at the end of our summer program. We hope they cherish these items and memories for a very long time.
