Only practical work and experiences lead the young to maturity.

Early Childhood STEM Specialist at the University of California, Berkeley’s Lawrence Hall of Science
I have a Bachelor Degree in Education from my native country, Brazil where I taught at inner city schools in São Paulo, one of the world’s most populous and dynamic urban areas. My experiences volunteering at social service agencies also made me aware of how Brazil’s class divisions start hardening in preschools. I believe that in early childhood education there is a path to work together for most students to achieve their full potential at school and in life. At The Lawrence Hall of Science, I design and present STEAM programs that illustrate culturally responsive teaching, and developmentally appropriate practices. The programs inspire adults to practice observation and facilitation techniques to maximize the children’s learning at play. My goal is to join efforts with communities that are committed to nurturing creativity, collaboration, trial and error, communication, and critical thinking in children between the ages of two and seven.
